Mike Welton says: It's official: I'll be writing for the Huffington Post's Design Thursday section every two weeks. Already have two queries accepted: one on Harry Weese's Given Institute in Aspen threatened with demolition, and the other on Jason Hu, 26 year-old designer of Michelle Obama's inaugural dress.

Dain Bain says: I led a workshop called "Laughing Matters: How/Why You Should Infuse Your Writing with Humor" during a break-out session at the National Federation of Press Women's conference in Chicago on Saturday. It was SRO!

TAF member Christa Gala recently won first, second and third place awards in the National Federation of Press Women's annual competition. First place was in Continuing News Coverage for a three-part series on autism that ran in The Cary News. Two pieces submitted in the Special Articles/Food category from Cary Living and Midtown Magazine took second place. And third place was awarded in the News Reporting category for a piece that ran in Cary Living. The winning pieces were selected from five first place awards Christa received at the local level from the N.C. Press Club. Did we mention TAF rules?

Kristy Stevenson just sold her first article to Military Officer magazine, a Rapid Fire piece about Retired US Army Corporal JR Martinez, a real-life wounded warrior who now plays Brot Monroe on All My Children. Way to go, Kristy!
